Opioid stickers and handouts update

Health Canada issues updated questions and answers for pharmacy professionals.

As reported in the Link on October 3, 2018, Health Canada now requires pharmacy professionals to provide an opioid information handout to individuals and put warning stickers on some opioids dispensed at pharmacies.

Health Canada has updated the question and answer section of its website to provide pharmacy professionals with the latest information about the regulation that requires handouts and stickers.

Amongst the updated information is clarification about the applicability of the requirements based on how often or how much of an opioid is dispensed and where the warning sticker should be applied.
